13th Lefke Walnut Festival realized

The 13th Lefke Walnut Festival organized by the Lefke Tourism Association in cooperation with the Lefke Municipality, was held on Sunday.

During the day-long festival, various activities took place alongside the candied walnut competition.

The festival, which was held at the Lefke Bazaar kick started with a cortege followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Delivering the opening speech at the festival the head of the Lefke Tourism Association Hasan Karlıtaş stated that they are working so that the festival they started in 2010 continues for many years and emphasized that Lefke and its villages are the most important values ​​of the Western Region.

Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya for his part stated that the walnut, one of the most important products of Lefke, has turned into a product that provides more economic income with the festival and reminded that production-related festivals had been held in Lefke in the 1940s.

The Lefke Municipality Women’s Course handicrafts exhibition and Teoman Oktay’s photography exhibition was also inaugurated.
