March 14th is Medicine Day and a variety of events are taking place to celebrate the day.
Events vary from students receiving their white smocks to a variety of conferences and celebratory concerts.
The 14th of March Medicine Day is being celebrated in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and in this context, the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association (KTTB) is holding a Medical Ceremony at the conference hall of the Association.
At 7pm Prof. Dr. Vamık Volkan will give an online seminar titled “Is peace possible in the world?”
The events will continue tomorrow with seminars titled “The impact of artificial intelligence on medical practices” by Prof. Dr. Cem Say at 6pm and “The health hazards of new generation tobacco products and the responsibilities of physicians” by Prof. Dr. Füsun Yıldız at 7pm at the Association’s Conference Hall.
On Saturday, a March 16 Medicine Day Ball will be realised and local singer Fikri Karayel will give a concert at the Concorde Hotel.
The events will end on Friday, March 22 with a play titled Tartüf by the Lefkoşa Municipal Theatre.
In line with Medicine Day events the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Medicine also held a workshop titled “Conversation on Professions in the Field of Health” at the Gazimağusa Turk Maarif College.
Chamber President Ömer Taşargöl said that their aim is to create an environment where young people, who are the future of the country, can come together with people who have experience in their professional choices, increase their awareness and ask any questions that they may have on their minds.
