The first of the Azerbaijan – Türkiye – North Cyprus Regional Integration Seminar, “3 States, One Nation” Forum that was held with the support of BZT Academy, Turan Academy, Azerbaijan Youth Contribution Public Association and the Turkic World Monitoring Centre was organized by Azerbaijan “Eternal Unity” Youth Public Union.
The event was attended by Acting President and Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre, Justice and Development Party Bursa Deputy Osman Mesten from Türkiye, United Nations Diplomat and member of the UN Human Rights and Defence Committee Mirdamed Azizov, representatives of other non-governmental organizations and young diplomats.
Acting President Zorlu Töre who joined the forum online emphasized that all three states are linked to each other by genealogical ties, sharing the same fate and pain.
Töre also stated that it is of great importance to promote the history and culture of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus among younger generations, especially among Turkish-speaking civil society organizations.
“There is a union of European states; there is a union of Arab states and a union of Scandinavian states, why not a union of Turkic states? I am the representative of the Turkish nation, I am the representative of everyone who considers themselves Turkish,” said Töre.
He also emphasized the importance of the TRNC joining the Organization of Turkic States as an observer member with its official title.
“The President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for the recognition of the TRNC at the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations this year and said, ‘We are waiting for Azerbaijan to recognise us first,” the acting president said.
Töre also praised Azerbaijan for the resilience it has shown in gaining its recognition and said that the TRNC is following in its footsteps.
