2 million 859 passengers have used the new Ercan Airport since opening

With the opening of the New Ercan Airport, the number of passengers has increased by 32 percent and the number of aircraft to the airport by 17 percent in the 9-month period.

According to the statement made by the Airport Management, there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers and aircraft with the opening of the new Ercan Airport.

While Ercan Airport hosted 2 million 158 thousand 515 passengers between January and September 2022, this number increased by 32 percent to 2 million 859 thousand 120 in the same period of 2023 with the opening of the new airport.

As for the number of aircraft, while 16,584 planes landed at Ercan Airport in January-September 2022, this number increased by 17 percent to 19,375 in the same period of 2023.

The General Manager of the Airport Management Serhat Özçelik stated that they are trying to provide the best services to both residents of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and those guests who come from abroad.

Explaining that they have also experienced a first with Turkish Airlines bringing large-bodied airplanes to the new Ercan Airport, Özçelik said that these are pleasing developments.

Özçelik stated that the number of passengers and aircraft will continue to increase until the end of 2023 and that they aim to reach 4 million passengers by the end of the year.
