Police have detained four people in connection with the criminal investigation into İsias Hotel in Adıyaman, Türkiye where 35 members of a youth volleyball team from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) perished after the building collapsed.
Ahmet Bozkurt, Efe Bozkurt, Amina Bozkurt and Şüle Özbek were taken in for questioning following allegations that the building which crumbled in the earthquake had failed to meet building code standards.
All four have been taken to Adıyaman, reports said.
In the meantime, over 20 experts have also begun to collect samples from the rubble of the building as part of the ongoing investigation.
Samples are being taken to determine the grade of the concrete and iron used in the construction of the hotel.
Building materials from other collapsed buildings are also being tested to determine whether they had met standards.
All members of Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College’s youth volleyball team and their chaperones, except for four people died after the hotel building collapsed in last week’s devastating 7.6 earthquakes in Adıyaman.
