President Ersin Tatar emphasized that sovereignty and statehood can never be given up.

Speaking at the fourth People’s Council meeting, President Tatar stated that the conflicts and events in the region have once again demonstrated the importance and value of peace, trust and stability on the island.

Noting that the two-state vision and national politics are becoming more rooted day by day, the President also emphasized the full support of the Republic of Türkiye in this regard.

The fourth information and consultation meeting of the new term of the People’s Council established within the Presidency was held under the chairmanship of President Ersin Tatar.

Presidents and representatives of the Lefke Solidarity Association, TRNC Akıncı Ocakları Association, TRNC Patriotic Association, Baf Solidarity Association, Baf Turkish Union, Black Sea Culture Association, Spring Breezes Association, Cyprus Polyphonic Choirs Association, Sonare Polyphonic Choirs Association and the Interaction Drama Association took part in the People’s Council meeting.

In his speech at the meeting, President Tatar stated that they attach great importance to the Presidency being in contact with all citizens and emphasized the importance of the People’s Council meetings.

President Tatar also evaluated the latest development taking place on the Cyprus issue by saying that they are working to improve relations with the Turkic world after becoming an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

He emphasized that the conflicts and events in the region have once again demonstrated the importance and value of peace, trust and stability on the island.

Stating that the Greek Cypriot side wants to leave the Turkish Cypriots under embargoes and that they aim to rid Türkiye from the island, President Tatar stated that it is not possible to continue from where they left off in Crans Montana.

“Our sovereignty and statehood can never be given up. Our two-state vision and national policy are becoming more rooted day by day,” said Tatar.

Underlining the importance of increasing the existing relations with the guarantor country Türkiye, the largest and strongest state in the region, President Tatar emphasized the Republic of Türkiye’s full support for the two-state policy.
