5th Fusion of Culture event realized in Iskele

The 5th Fusion of Cultures event, traditionally organized by the Iskele Municipality, was realized in Iskele on Sunday.

A total of 150 stands were set up at the festival which aims to bring together the cultures of different nationalities residing in the area.

State and government officials also attended the event which began with a cortege that ended at Iskele’s Ecevit Square.

After performances from the Iskele Municipality Folk Dances team, the Mayor of Iskele Hasan Sadıkoğlu delivered a short speech stating that foods and beverages from Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Belarus, as well as the handicrafts of many different 3rd world countries, were all on sale during the event that brought locals together.

After his speech was completed the Black Sea Culture Association’s Stars of the North performed.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre also said a few words at the event.

He stated that as the Turkish nation, they respected those from different religions, languages and races.

President Ersin Tatar who also attended the event said that citizens from many different countries have been living in Iskele recently and noted that this contributes to the promotion of the country.

Stating that the infrastructure and foundation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will continue to be kept alive by getting stronger, Tatar thanked those who contributed to the organization of the festival.

Touching on the Cyprus issue, Tatar emphasized the importance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call for the recognition of the TRNC and the establishment of economic, cultural and diplomatic relations with the Turkish Cypriot people.

President Tatar also pointed out that the Republic of Türkiye has always stood by the Turkish Cypriot people.
