The traditional 7th Herb Culture Solidarity Festival which was organized by the Tatlısu Municipality with the contributions of the Final Organization was held in the village square on Sunday.

Proceeds from the festival will be donated for the construction of a project for earthquake victims in Türkiye in memory of the Champion Angels Team.

The annual event aims to promote edible plants in the wild and draw attention to the importance of healthy nutrition.

The event started with the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the recent earthquake in Türkiye.

The festival began with a speech by Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan.

Pointing out that this year’s event was not organised for entertainment but for solidarity and cooperation, Orçan explained that all proceeds from the stands will be donated to the earthquake victims with a project to be made in memory of the Champion Angels Team.

He also added that the theme of the festival was nature, natural and healthy nutrition.

The Mayor of Gazimağusa Süleyman Uluçay for his part stressed the importance of unity and solidarity in times of such great suffering.

He reminded that both the government and Türkiye were always with them in Adıyaman.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu who also delivered a speech at the festival highlighted the importance of every donation to be made in memory of the Champion Angels Team and the earthquake victims.

Also addressing the event, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu said that the Turkish Cypriot people shared the pain of the Turkish people.

“Your pain is our pain and our pain is your pain,” he said, thanking the organisers of the festival for their contributions.
