9th International Mediterranean Terracotta Symposium begins

The 9th International Mediterranean Terracotta Symposium, hosted by the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality and organized by the Alashia Terracotta Art Community, starts today.

According to information given by Ayhatun Ateşin, who will curate the symposium, which will take place between April 1-8, the symposium will feature archaeological presentations, experimental works and artists’ interpretations influenced by archaic artefacts found in museums abroad.

The symposium, managed by Vedia Okutan Gaydeler, will be seeing the attendance of 17 artists from Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Türkiye.

Ateşin stated that the symposium aims to enlighten the future and enable individuals to better recognize the past.

The Mayor of the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Municipality Fırat Ataser stated that they have started work to protect the environment of the Mediterranean Open Air Museum and to strengthen its impact physically and visually.
