Turkish VP Yılmaz in TRNC for contacts

The Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz is paying a one-day visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) today.

Speaking at Ercan Airport upon his arrival, Yılmaz reiterated Ankara’s continued support for the development of the TRNC as well as raising the prosperity of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He pointed out that Türkiye will continue to remain by the side of Turkish Cypriots despite the ongoing unjust embargoes imposed on them.

Yılmaz also said that his discussions would focus on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue.

As part of his contacts on Wednesday, Yılmaz first met with Speaker of the Parliament Ziya Öztürkler.

During his visit, he will hold meetings with TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Parliamentary Speaker Ziya Öztürkler, and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Yılmaz then attended the launch and briefing session of the TRNC’s Fourth Five-Year Development Plan, which is taking place at Concorde Tower in the capital, Lefkoşa.

Later in the afternoon, the Turkish Vice President will be received by President Ersin Tatar.

The two will be giving a joint press conference afterwards.

Additionally, Yılmaz is expected to participate in the 2nd Ordinary Regional General Assembly of the International Union of Democrats (UID) TRNC chapter.
