Businessman Asil Nadir, who invested all over the world and used his opportunities for his country and the Turkish Cypriot people and was receiving treatment at the Kolan Hospital, has died at the age of 83.
President Ersin Tatar, Parliamentary Speaker Ziya Ötürkler and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued messages praising Nadir’s entrepreneurship and his efforts to his country.

President Ersin Tatar in his message stated that Asil Nadir’s services will always be remembered and will not be forgotten.
“It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Asil Nadir, a great businessman who successfully left his mark in the economic field with his significant investments in our country and the Republic of Türkiye. His services will always be remembered and will not be forgotten. I wish him God’s mercy and condolences to his family, loved ones and relatives.”

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel in his condolence message upon hearing of Nadir’s death stated that Nadir’s leadership in the business world and the values he created will continue to inspire future generations.
Üstel emphasized that Nadir achieved great success in the international arena with his vision, entrepreneurship and courage in the business world and stated that he inspired many people with his hard work and determination.
“Asil Nadir has made significant contributions not only in our country but also in many fields such as economy, press, media and education worldwide and will be remembered for his support to production and employment. His leadership in the business world and the values he created will continue to inspire future generations,” said Üstel.
He commemorated Nadir with respect and expressed his condolences to his family and loved ones.
Asil Nadir had been receiving treatment at the Kolon Hospital as he was suffering from multiple organ failure.
The hospital announced that Asil Nadir lost his life at 21.45 on Sunday, February 9.
