Highways Dept, Gönyeli-Alayköy Mun. and KIB-TEK reach agreement

A new step has been taken to solve the lighting problem on the roads, which has been on the agenda of the country for some time now.

The Highways Department, Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality and KIB-TEK have decided to cooperate and solve the problem illuminating the main roads in Gönyeli.

The Highways Department, Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality and Kıb-Tek are cooperating to solve the lighting problem of the main arteries within the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipal boundaries.

The meeting, which took place at the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality with the guidance of Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, was attended by Kazım Kafaoğlu, Director of the Highways Department, Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, Mayor of Gönyeli Alayköy Municipality, Hüseyin Paşa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kıb-Tek and Dalman Aydın, General Manager of Kıb-Tek.

According to the decisions taken at the meeting; the lighting systems on the Gönyeli-Güzelyurt Highway and within the borders of Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality will be permanently repaired.

For this, the Highways Department will provide material support, while Kıb-Tek will provide technicians and materials.

At the meeting, it was also agreed that a speed detection camera will be installed at a point deemed appropriate by the General Directorate of Police and the Highways Department.

Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı stated that they will work to widen this cooperation throughout the country.

“In addition to the maintenance and repair works of the existing lighting systems, our aim is to determine where road lighting is needed in the country and to eliminate the deficiencies,” Arıklı said.

He stated that they will continue to work on eliminating infrastructure deficiencies in order to increase traffic safety in the country, and that drivers should fulfill their responsibilities by following the rules and respecting the safety of others.

Gönyeli-Alayköy Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu for his part stated that they will mobilize for the permanent repair of road lighting systems within the municipality borders.

He stated that they will initiate work on the middle refuge to be wired to prevent pedestrians from crossing the road in the area of the Gönyeli-Güzelyurt Highway within the city and said that he has also started an initiative for an overpass to be built.
