UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo continues her regional tour in preparation for the informal expanded meeting to be held in Geneva on March 17-18.
On Monday, DiCarlo met with the leaders in Cyprus before heading to Greece.
In Athens, DiCarlo met with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis.
DiCarlo is set to travel to Türkiye on Thursday for further discussions.
According to diplomatic sources in Athens, as reported by the Cyprus News Agency, Gerapetritis told DiCarlo during the meeting that resolving the Cyprus issue was an absolute priority on Greece’s foreign policy agenda.
Gerapetritis also expressed that Athens was aiming for a solution based on a bi-communal, bi-zonal federation model and within the framework of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
DiCarlo, in turn, stressed the commitment of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the Cyprus issue and expressed the intention to take concrete steps forward on the matter.
DiCarlo also shared the details of the upcoming “five-party” preparatory meetings with Gerapetritis.
