Pakistan fully supports Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Thursday in Islamabad.

“Pakistan fully supports the cause of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and fully stands by Türkiye on this cause in an unwavering fashion,” Sharif said at a joint news conference in Islamabad with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

After discussing bilateral relations, counter-terrorism efforts, and regional issues, the two leaders held a joint press conference.

During the press conference, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Turkish President Erdoğan has clearly stated his position on the disputed Kashmir region and that, similarly, Pakistan has taken a very clear stance on Türkiye’s position regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, stressing that they will always stand by Türkiye.

Erdoğan said that Pakistan’s support for the just cause of the Turkish Cypriots is very meaningful for them.
