The book “Vuda Sarmaları”, written by Aysan Özertaş Özcezarlı, which chronicles the humorous stories of the Vuda villagers who were settled in Akova village after 1974 and originally from Vuda, Larnaca, was introduced at an event held in Central Lefkoşa.
This work, which is Özertaş Özcezarlı’s eighth book, was prepared by the senior veterinarian Cengiz Ozaner’s narratives, which were structured and written by Özcezarlı.
The event was attended by President Ersin Tatar, the National Unity Party MP Zorlu Töre, Republican Turkish Party MP Sami Özuslu, Mayor of Lefkoşa Mehmet Harmancı, and other guests.
In his speech at the event, President Tatar congratulated the authors for carrying out such a beautiful research and passing it on to future generations.
Noting that that Vudalı people lived in many countries, Tatar said that he had met Vudalı people even in Australia, adding that Baroness Meral Hüseyin Ece, a member of the House of Lords in the UK, was also from Vuda.
Stressing that Turkish Cypriots had maintained their existence on the island for centuries through their culture, art, writings, and poetry, the President underlined the importance of carrying these forward and conveying the cultural richness.
He also expressed his hope that this work would serve as an example.
