
The meeting of Foreign Affairs Committees of Turkic States’ Parliaments was held in Istanbul, with the participation of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal, Political, Foreign Affairs, and Defence, led by the National Unity Party (UBP) MP Yasemin Öztürk.
The meeting hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), brought together representatives from the parliaments of Turkic states, including the delegation from the Republic’s Assembly’s Legal, Political, Foreign Affairs, and Defence Committee.
Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the Chairman of the TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee, Fuat Oktay, stated that the Foreign Affairs Committees of Turkic States’ Parliaments aimed to become a key decision-making body on the international stage.
Noting that they discussed critical issues, including the situation in the Caucasus, the Cyprus issue, the Ukraine-Russia war, recent developments in Syria, and the latest situation in Palestine, he stressed, “From today onward, you will witness much stronger cooperation under the umbrella of the Foreign Affairs Committees of Turkic States’ Parliaments.”
The President the Republican’s Assembly’s Legal, Political, Foreign Affairs, and Defence Committee, Yasemin Öztürk, expressed her support for such meetings, stating that they played a crucial role in shaping the shared future of the Turkic world and should continue to be held more frequently.
During the meeting, it was decided that the next gathering will take place in Kyrgyzstan.
