
The holy month of Ramadan, known as the “sultan of eleven months,” will begin on Saturday, March 1.
The first Tarawih prayer will be performed on Friday, February 28, followed by sahur (the pre-dawn meal) on the night connecting February 28 to March 1, and the first iftar will take place on the same day.
During Ramadan, a time for fasting, Tarawih prayers, the giving of fitre, Quran recitation, and increased charitable acts, the Night of Qadr (Laylat al-Qadr) described in the Quran as “better than a thousand months” will be observed on Wednesday night, March 26.
This year’s Ramadan will last for 29 days, and the three-day Eid al-Fitr will begin on Sunday, March 30, ending on Tuesday, April 1.
The Eid prayer will be held at 07:07am.
On the first day of fasting, March 1, the sahur will be at 04:48am, and iftar will be at 5:51pm.
The TRNC Religious Affairs Presidency has set the fitre (charitable donation) amount at 300 TL for this year, which must be givenbefore the Eid prayer.
