Republican Turkish Party (CTP) General Secretary Asım Akansoy has reiterated that the party’s core position is a federal solution based on United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Speaking on a program on Thursday, the CTP’s General Secretary Asım Akansoy emphasized that his party advocates for negotiations with the aim of achieving a resolution to the Cyprus issue.

He highlighted ongoing global shifts and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, stressing that the current status quo on the island cannot be sustained.

Pointing to Türkiye’s strategic position in the region, Akansoy called for a “win-win” approach in the evolving geopolitical landscape.

He asserted that the Cyprus issue must be addressed as part of broader international relations and regional problem-solving efforts.

Akansoy also underscored the necessity of ensuring the Turkish Cypriot side’s place as an equal partner in a federal structure, with political equality guaranteed.

He reaffirmed that CTP’s stance remains clear: “CTP’s fundamental thesis is a federal solution within the framework of UN Security Council resolutions.”

Furthermore, Akansoy stated that the four key principles put forward by CTP regarding the Cyprus issue have been taken seriously and respected by the international community.
