
Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu has been re-elected as the General-Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP).
The UBP Party Assembly convened on Wednesday and elected Hasipoğlu as General-Secretary for the third time, as he was the sole candidate.
Speaking to the press after the election was concluded the leader of the National Unity Party and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that, in addition to the General-Secretary election, they also evaluated the government’s next steps in the upcoming period.
Touching upon the talks that will take place in Geneva on Monday. Üstel said, “We will be in Geneva and we will closely follow the talks there. We will transfer information to our country in that direction. Our expectation, our view on Cyprus is that we are going as a state with two sovereign equal international status as always. We will see what we will encounter in the negotiations there,” he said.
Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, who was re-elected as the General Secretary of the National Unity Party, made a statement to the BRT.
He said that as the UBP, they will continue their activities both locally and internationally to make the TRNC state visible.
Stating that the issue of mixed voting was also on the agenda at the meeting, Hasipoğlu said that the party council agreed on the abolition of mixed voting.
Pointing to the importance of the meeting to be held in Geneva, Hasipoğlu emphasized that “we are fully behind the new policy put forward by President Ersin Tatar in the talks”.
