
Preparations are ongoing ahead of the upcoming 5+1 informal Cyprus meeting set to take place in Geneva. As part of these efforts, President Ersin Tatar will hold discussions with political parties tomorrow to exchange views.
According to a statement from the Presidency, President Tatar will meet with political parties on Friday to provide updates and gather opinions ahead of the Geneva talks.
The meetings will begin at 11:30 AM with parties represented in the TRNC Parliament, followed by discussions with the Social Democratic Party (TDP) and the People’s Party (HP).
Following these consultations, President Tatar is scheduled to hold a press conference at the Presidential Palace at 2:00 PM to brief the public on the discussions.
Meanwhile, President Ersin Tatar will be accompanied at the upcoming meeting in Geneva by members of his negotiation team, including Special Representative Güneş Onar, Legal Advisor Sülen Karabacak, Confidence-Building Measures and Bicommunal Technical Committees Coordinator Seniha Birand Çınar, and International Relations and Diplomacy Special Advisor Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Işıksal.
From the political parties represented in the Republic’s Assembly, National Unity Party (UBP) will be represented by the UBP leader and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, UBP Secretary-General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu; the Democratic Party (DP) will be represented by DP leader and Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, and DP Member of Parliament Serhat Akpınar; the Rebirth Party (YDP) will be represented by MP Talip Atalay; and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) will be represented by the CTP leader Tufan Erhürman and MP Fikri Toros.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also be present in Geneva.
Members of smaller opposition parties will also be make up the delegation.
