Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has announced the revival of social housing projects to help young people become homeowners at affordable prices.

The first foundation stone will be laid in Güzelyurt on March 28, with similar projects in Alayköy and Karpaz nearing completion. Additionally, the distribution of rural land plots will commence on April 5.

In a written statement, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and implementing long-awaited projects and reforms.

He stated that preparations for the social housing initiative have reached the final stage, ensuring the construction of modern, affordable homes with suitable payment conditions.

To facilitate these projects, Üstel highlighted the recent legislative amendments, including revisions to the Housing Acquisition Law (63/2007), which have now been officially enacted.

The Prime Minister also addressed infrastructure improvements in previously allocated rural land plots, noting that significant progress has been made in nearly 80 areas.

Moving forward, new rural land allocations will begin in South Mesarya on April 5, allowing young people to establish homes in their local communities.

Üstel underscored the government’s broader plan to extend the land distribution initiative nationwide, helping young people overcome challenges in securing land. Additionally, efforts are underway to provide financial support for those seeking to build homes on the allocated plots.

The TRNC government’s commitment to expanding social housing and land allocation aims to provide young people with greater opportunities for homeownership while fostering sustainable development across the country.
