
Following the 5+1 Cyprus summit in Geneva, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel traveled to Ankara for official meetings.
As part of his visit, Üstel and his delegation first met with Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Accompanying Üstel on his Ankara visit are Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, Finance Minister Özdemir Berova, and senior bureaucrats.
The delegation is holding a series of meetings in the Turkish capital.
Thursday’s meeting in Ankara focused on increasing the number of reciprocal flights and passenger capacity, measures to counter transportation embargoes, and new partnerships to boost tourism.
Additionally, discussions included joint projects to enhance the international visibility of the TRNC and strengthen promotional efforts abroad.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized that they would take significant steps in cooperation with Türkiye to advance TRNC tourism.
He highlighted the increase in passenger numbers following the opening of the new airport and expressed a commitment to further boosting these figures. Stressing that their efforts would contribute significantly to the growth of the sector,
Üstel reaffirmed that TRNC tourism would continue to expand steadily with new projects. The parties agreed to accelerate efforts to make the TRNC a more attractive tourist destination.
Discussions in Ankara are focusing on economic cooperation between the TRNC and Türkiye, transportation projects, financial support, and other key issues.
More high-level meetings are expected to take place during the visit.
