Date Added: 02 April 2025

President Ersin Tatar visited veterans and the families of martyrs on the third day of Bayram, reaffirming his commitment to the sovereignty and statehood of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Speaking during his visits, President Ersin Tatar expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by veterans and martyrs for the survival of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He also condemned statements made during the Greek Cypriot Administration’s April 1 EOKA anniversary ceremonies, where calls of “Cyprus is Greek” were made.

Stressing that the Greek Cypriot mentality had not changed, he stated, “We have always demonstrated goodwill and expressed our willingness to coexist side by side with the Greek Cypriots in a two-state partnership. However, history has shown that the Greek Cypriot side does not accept this reality.”

Tatar emphasized that the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people would continue to ensure a peaceful and secure future.

He highlighted that, with the support of Türkiye, the TRNC continues to grow and develop.

Paying tribute to the fallen, he stressed that the peace and stability on the island today were achieved through their sacrifices and that they would never be forgotten.

He also pointed to the ongoing tragedy of missing martyrs, calling it a grave human rights violation and criticizing the Greek Cypriot Administration for failing to assist in locating them despite having access to key information.
