Turkish Airlines (THY), Türkiye’s national flag carrier, continues to increase the number of wide-body aircraft serving Ercan Airport, following infrastructure upgrades at the new terminal.
With the extension of the runway to 3,000 metres, Ercan Airport is now capable of accommodating larger aircraft, enabling a rise in passenger capacity.
The growing number of arrivals is expected to contribute positively to tourism and the economy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Having first launched wide-body flights to Ercan on November 1, 2023, using its 329-seat Airbus A350, THY added another milestone today by landing its second wide-body aircraft — a Boeing 777 — at 09:13, officially starting regular operations with the larger model.
