Tourism Week will be celebrated with a festival in Gazimağusa.

In his message for Tourism Week, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu invited everyone to the Tourism Festival, which will take place on Saturday, April 19 at Namık Kemal Square in Gazimağusa.

Noting that while last year’s Tourism Festival was held at Girne’s Ancient Harbour, this year it will be organized at Namık Kemal Square in Gazimağusa, Ataoğlu stated that the festival will include concerts, folk dances, and various events throughout the day.

He stressed that Tourism Week was a great opportunity to promote the country’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and the hospitality of the Turkish Cypriot people, while also drawing attention to the role and importance of tourism in society.

Highlighting that North Cyprus was an untouched star of the Mediterranean with its crystal-clear sea, pristine coves, historical texture, cultural diversity, and people-cantered service approach, Ataoğlu said, “Preserving, developing, and sustainably passing on this unique potential to future generations is our collective responsibility.”

Stating that as the Ministry, their main goal was to consider tourism not only as an economic activity but also as a means to preserve cultural heritage, raise environmental awareness, and broaden horizons for youth, he noted that they were implementing multifaceted projects aimed at developing alternative tourism models, highlighting local values, effectively using digital promotional channels, and promoting environmentally-friendly tourism approaches.

“The development of tourism not only benefits the tourism sector but also contributes positively to many areas such as agriculture, handicrafts, transportation, and education. Therefore, cooperation among all sectors is one of the most important factors in enhancing our country’s brand value” Ataoğlu said.

On the occasion of the week, he congratulated all employees, investors, and the supportive public working in the tourism sector, and expressed their determination to continue efforts for a stronger, more sustainable, and more recognized Northern Cyprus.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, along with tourism professionals, will hold a press conference today at 6:30pm at the Acapulco Hotel in Girne.
