
Following the informal extended meeting in Geneva, where the two leaders agreed to establish a Bicommunal Youth Technical Committee, the Turkish Cypriot side has finalized its appointments.
President Ersin Tatar designated the chair and 15 members who will represent the Turkish Cypriot side in the newly formed committee, which becomes the 13th Technical Committee under the UN framework.
According to a statement from the TRNC Presidency, the agreement to form the committee was first reached during the Geneva meeting and was reconfirmed at the leaders’ meeting held on April 2.
Both sides committed to submit their respective lists of members to the United Nations, a step that was completed today with the simultaneous submission of names from both communities.
The Turkish Cypriot delegation to the Youth Technical Committee will be chaired by Vehbi Zeki Serter and include Bengisu Arar, Elis Sönmez, Lal Sargun, Zehra Beyar, Aslı Özgen, Cansu Özcezarlı, Gizem Aytaç, Güzide Sofi, Hüsrev Tancer, Şenkal Bayramoğlu, İbrahim Beycanlı, Erden Pekri, Hüseyin Aran, Mert Nihat Ecevit, and Hilmi Birinci.
The committee aims to foster youth-oriented cooperation and dialogue through joint projects.
The Greek Cypriot side, under the leadership of Greek Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, also submitted its list of 16 members to the UN.
