Lefkoşa New State Hospital protocol was signed in Ankara

The “Lefkoşa New State Hospital Protocol” was signed in Ankara between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Health of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

With this protocol, the construction of the first phase of the Lefkoşa New State Hospital, which will have a capacity of 320 beds, will begin.

A “Protocol on the Construction of the New Lefkoşa State Hospital and the Renovation of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Health Campus Buildings” was signed between Türkiye and the TRNC.

According to a statement made from the Ministry of Health, the New State Hospital will have a closed area of 50,000 square meters and a capacity of 320 beds.

The hospital will include 110 intensive care beds, 80 outpatient clinics, 20 dialysis beds and 12 operating rooms.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Türkiye’s Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu emphasized the significant struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people in the past.

“The Turkish Cypriot people have established their own state and are moving forward on this path with confident steps. As the Turkish nation, we always try to support each other with good intentions. Today, we are strengthening that brotherhood” said Memişoğlu.

He also emphasized that the solidarity shown in 1974 continues today.

“Today, we stand with the Turkish Cypriot people with the same determination. We are working especially to improve the quality of healthcare services there. We will support the renovation process of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital. A new hospital campus is a very important step for Cyprus. Today, we are laying the foundation for this project. We hope to complete the construction in a short time and hold the opening together”, said Memişoğlu.

Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek for his part said that the support Türkiye has provided to the Turkish Cypriot people cannot be measured in material terms.

“We have reached this point thanks to our spirit of struggle and the support Türkiye has consistently provided,” said Dinçyürek, noting that Türkiye has always stood by the Turkish Cypriots.

He highlighted the vital importance of the new hospital project for Cyprus, stating that the hospital was a major necessity for the country.
