Chairman of Türkiye’s Republican People’s Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, reacted to the agreement reached on April 4th at the Samarkand summit between EU countries and the Turkic States.

Questioning the situation, Özel said, “How is it that those we’ve been expecting to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) end up recognizing South Cyprus instead?”

He added, “We will never remain silent in the face of this great disaster.”

Speaking at a rally organized by his party in Yozgat, the Republican People’s Party leader Özel criticized the agreement signed in Samarkand between the Turkic states and the European Union.

Criticizing the Turkish government’s foreign policy, Özel stated
“On April 4th, EU countries and the Turkic Republics came together in Samarkand, recognized South Cyprus and rejected the existence of North Cyprus. The opening of embassies in South Cyprus by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is a sign of the collapse of the foreign policy of the Republic of Türkiye.”
