The trial of public officials found to be at fault in the collapse of the İsias Hotel, which became the grave of 72 people including our Champion Angels, has begun.

At the first hearing held on Thursday at the Adıyaman 1st High Criminal Court, an interim decision was announced.

The trial has been postponed to July 16 for the preparation of an expert report.

Following the announcement of the court’s interim rulings, Union of Bar Associations President Hasan Esendağlı and Champion Angels Association representative Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya made a press statement.

Esendağlı stated that the first session of the trial, in which public officials are accused of reckless negligence, had been completed.

Noting that the trial was postponed to July 16 for the preparation of an expert report, he stressed that no arrest orders were issued for the defendants and that judicial control measures would continue.

Esendağlı also stated that the defendants’ request to be exempt from attending the hearings was rejected.

He added that the initial procedures had been completed and that the process was ongoing.

The President of the Champion Angels Association, Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya, said they already knew and had proven the truth, but the courts still demanded that all the facts be repeatedly proven.

Highlighting that judicial control decisions were made for the defendants but that they were not arrested, Karakaya said, “Are we going to experience another Hasan Aslan case? While people who serve in public office through misconduct walk around freely, our loved ones lie beneath the ground. We will remain here until a ruling of probable intent is made for all those responsible. We will continue to be here with determination, and we will fight for our case.”
