President Ersin Tatar stated that recent surveys have revealed strong public support for the two-state solution model.
In a written statement, the President emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people have preserved their existence by protecting their identity and state, and said, “It is time for this struggle to grow even further and be carried to the world.”
President Tatar also stressed that the oppression of isolation must be brought to an end as soon as possible.
President Ersin Tatar issued a written statement evaluating the results of recent surveys, stating that the surveys revealed strong support from the Turkish Cypriot people for the two-state solution model.
Highlighting that this situation once again confirms the correctness of the ongoing struggle, President Tatar noted that, with the full support of Türkiye, the new policy based on sovereign equality and equal international status has received over 50% support from the people.
Tatar emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people, as a nation standing firmly by their own state, will continue their determined struggle to claim their rightful place in the international arena.
He also pointed out that it has become clearly evident that the federation model has collapsed, with support for a federation dropping below 20% among both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.
“This picture shows that all segments of the Turkish Cypriot people must firmly embrace their state and strongly support the two-state policy,” said Tatar.
He stated that, in coordination with Türkiye, they are working tirelessly day and night to entrench and further strengthen this policy.
Tatar stated that the participation in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the close relationships established with brotherly states, particularly Türkiye and Azerbaijan, are tangible and valuable results of this path.
Emphasizing that despite facing inhumane isolation, the Turkish Cypriot people have managed to preserve their honor and existence under their own state, Tatar said, “The oppression of isolation must end immediately. The time has long come for our people to take their rightful place in the international community.”
Underlining that the Turkish Cypriot people will never accept coming under Greek domination, Tatar said, “Having learned through bitter experience the cost of surrendering to the will of the other side in the past, our people today are holding on even tighter to their state. It is time for this struggle to grow even further and be carried to the world.”
