The Iğdır-Nakhchivan Natural Gas Pipeline has been inaugurated.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the Iğdır-Nakhchivan Natural Gas Pipeline Opening Ceremony via live connection from the Presidential Complex.
In his speech, Azerbaijani President Aliyev highlighted that projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, and TANAP oil and natural gas pipelines not only connected the two countries but also reshaped Eurasia’s energy map.
Underlining the strong unity and brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Aliyev said, “President Erdoğan has played a crucial role in the unification of the Turkic world. Under his leadership, Türkiye has achieved great successes, and new opportunities have emerged for even stronger ties among Turkic nations. Azerbaijan has always placed great importance on this unity and has spared no effort in ensuring its permanence by building relations on shared history and common interests.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for his part, stressed that the Iğdır-Nakhchivan Natural Gas Pipeline would complement previous strategic energy initiatives.
Erdoğan stated that Türkiye and Azerbaijan were in complete harmony when it comes to launching strategic projects in the energy sector.
Highlighting that Türkiye and Azerbaijan stood for peace, stability, and prosperity, Erdoğan said, “We seek only peace, cooperation, and shared development in our region. We have taken many steps toward this goal, and we are determined to continue implementing all projects that contribute to regional peace, prosperity, and stability together.”
He also expressed his belief that this cooperation would further strengthen the Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood.
Referring to Azerbaijan’s support during difficult times, Erdoğan added, “Just as we found our dear Azerbaijan by our side in our hardest moments—especially after the February 6 earthquakes—we will always stand by our brothers whenever they need us.”
Following the inauguration, Presidents Erdoğan and Aliyev held a tete-a-tete meeting.
