A total of 110.7 km of rural roads were renewed

The Highways Department, affiliated to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, renewed 110.7 kilometres of roads in the countryside with the support of the Republic of Türkiye.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that the importance they attached to highway infrastructure will gradually increase and added “we will enable our citizens to travel more comfortably, safely and by saving time.”

The maintenance and repair work initiated by the Department of Highways on the Lefkoşa-Gazimağusa main road are expected to be completed on January 15.

While the work on the Girne-Alsancak Road, one of the important road projects, is aimed to be completed by March at the latest, according to the statement made by the Ministry, the renovation work on the Dipkarpaz-Monastery Road are planned to start in the coming weeks.

In the statement, it was noted that while the road construction and road sign and marking work continue within the scope of the Turkish Highways Master Plan, a total of 110.7 km of rural roads have been renewed so far.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that the work continued with the support of the Republic of Türkiye for the development of the highway infrastructure, which will contribute significantly to the development of the country and that the projects were completed one by one.

He reminded that a mass opening ceremony was held with the participation of Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu in November and that the Güzelyurt-Lefke road and Balalan-Yenierenköy road, which had not been completed for many years, were now in service.

“Maintenance and repair work continue on the Lefkoşa-Gazimağusa road. The work on the Girne-Alsancak road will be completed by March at the latest. The renovation work of another important project, the Dipkarpaz-Monastery road, will start in a few weeks. The importance we attach to our highway infrastructure will increase gradually in the coming period. While contributing to the development of the country with new projects, we will enable our citizens to travel more comfortably, safely and by saving time” Arıklı added.
