Acting President and Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre pointed to the events in Gaza and emphasized that we live in an order where only the strong can protect their rights; for this reason, if Türkiye and the Turkish army are in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriots are comfortable and safe on the island.

Acting President and Speaker of the Republican Assembly Zorlu Töre, received the deputy chairman of the Good Party in Türkiye Oktay Vural.

Speaking during the visit, Töre emphasized that after the events in Gaza, it was seen that the values of the EU and the UN Security Council no longer exist and that we live in an order where only the strong can protect their rights.

Noting that the Turkish Cypriot people experienced similar events to Gaza before 1974, Töre emphasized that if Türkiye and the Turkish army are in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriots are safe and secure.

Pointing out that Greece and Greek Cypriot side have not given up the idea of seeing Cyprus as a “Hellenic Island”, Töre stated that it is everyone’s duty to keep the independent Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) state alive.

The Deputy Chairman of the Good Party Oktay Vural also drew attention to the fact that those who do not lift a finger against what is happening in Gaza can unfairly rally the international community about the construction of a road in Cyprus.

“The independence of the TRNC should be the target in front of us,” said Vural.

He also stated that the international community should show the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people the closeness it shows to others without implementing double standards when it comes to their rights.
