Agreement signed between Kacir and Amcaoğlu

A protocol has been signed between the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and the TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu.

Speaking during the ceremony Turkish Minister Kacır emphasized Türkiye’s support for the Turkish Cypriot people and their struggle against the embargoes and isolations imposed on them.

He stated that Türkiye’s fundamental policy is to secure the survival, freedom, and future of the TRNC, and to strengthen cooperation with all institutions and organizations in the TRNC.

He also emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to supporting projects that will tap into the economic potential of the TRNC and develop its knowledge-based economy in sectors such as science, technology, and innovation.

Minister Kacır further highlighted the financial support provided to the TRNC for development projects through the Çukurova Development Agency, with a total of ₺1.1bn provided since 2011.

He mentioned that steps are being taken to implement Organized Industrial Zones (OIZs) in the TRNC, based on Türkiye’s expertise and experience in this area.

These OIZs aim to bring planned, environmentally friendly industrial areas to the TRNC, and are intended to foster industrialization and production capabilities through the facilitation of industrial investments by Turkish citizens and companies.

Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu for his part expressed the belief that with Türkiye’s infrastructure, know-how, and financial support, the TRNC’s industrialization would gain momentum.

He emphasized the importance of industrialization for the TRNC’s economy and the potential for increased production and added value in collaboration with Türkiye.

Amcaoğlu also highlighted the potential for cooperation between Turkish and TRNC investors.

The signed agreement also highlights Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the TRNC’s development projects and cooperation between Turkish and TRNC investors.
