Agreement signed in Ankara to bolster economic cooperation

 In a significant step to bolster economic cooperation, Finance Minister Özdemir Berova of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) met with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat in Ankara.

During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to donate two mobile X-ray scanning systems and an additional protocol for constructing a cold storage facility for Cypfruvex Ltd.

The agreement, aimed at enhancing security and efficiency at the ports of Gazimağusa and Girne, was signed by both ministers in Ankara on Wednesday.

In addition, they also signed an additional protocol covering several key projects including the construction of cold and frozen storage rooms, the expansion of fruit juice concentrate production capacity, the installation of solar energy systems, and investments in advanced fruit processing for new product development.

Minister Bolat shared details of the meeting on his social media account, emphasizing Türkiye’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with the TRNC and contributing to its economic development.

Bolat highlighted the agreement to provide x-ray devices to the TRNC for customs purposes, stating, “As Türkiye, we are determined to further advance our strong relations with the TRNC. The agreements we have signed will strengthen our economic and cultural ties, and reinforce our solidarity with the brotherly people of the TRNC. Through this cooperation, we will continue to work towards ensuring that the TRNC can look to the future with greater confidence and support its economic development.”
