Agriculture Minister Çavuş attends 2nd OTS Agriculture Ministers meeting

The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş attended the 2nd Agriculture Ministers meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

In his speech at the event Mr. Çavuş stated that he was honoured to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as an observer at the 2nd Agriculture Ministers meeting of the Organization of Turkic States and thanked the host country the Republic of Azerbaijan and the esteemed members who created this opportunity for the TRNC.

Stating that the agriculture sector for the TRNC is significant for the country he said “As it has been around the world the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has also experienced a great drought due to global climate change and therefore the water that has arrived from Türkiye is of great importance for agricultural development.”

He said that 75 million cubic meters of drinking and potable water was being pumped to the TRNC annually as part of the water supply project, dubbed the project of the century.

Çavuş emphasized that many strategic goals have also been set for the TRNC, which will ensure the sustainable management of natural resources, increase competitiveness in the agricultural sector and improve the living conditions of those living in rural areas.

He also said that his greatest wish is to strengthen cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States in many areas.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş, together with the Ministers of Agriculture of the states belonging to the Organization of Turkic States, held a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Esedov.

Çavuş and his accompanying delegation also visited the TRNC Baku Representation office where they were welcomed by Ambassador Ufuk Turganer.

He also gave an interview to the Tele-qraf.com internet news site, which is part of Teleqraf Media Group in Azerbaijan.
