Aid campaigns have been launched with the hope of being able to assist those who have been affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye.
People in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have shown great interest in the aid campaigns.
Clothing and food aid collected by the Lefkoşa, Gönyeli, Girne and Çatalköy Municipalities were loaded onto trucks and taken to the Girne and Gazimağusa ports to be sent to Türkiye.
In the meantime, aid collected with the support of the Turkish Embassy, the Gazimağusa Consulate General Coordination and the 4th Infantry Regiment Command were loaded onto trucks at the Gazimağusa port and sent to Türkiye.
Also a separate aid campaign is being coordinated by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) upon the directive of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa stated that they had many requests from Turkish nationals living in the TRNC, businesses and locals who want to assist and support those who have been affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye and therefore AFAD has begun an aid campaign.
Citizens who want to contribute to the aid campaign can do so simply by sending an SMS to the number 1866 by typing “DEPREM”.
The 1866 number is accepted by all operators.
People can also make donations via their bank account numbers.
President Ersin Tatar and the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management have called on the public to support the Earthquake Aid Campaign initiated by the Republic of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
Meanwhile the Cyprus Vakıflar Administration has announced that it has contributed 2 million TL to support earthquake victims in Türkiye.
The North Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent has launched an aid campaign under the slogan “We are with you, TÜRKİYE”.
You can contribute to the campaign and make donations online, via EFT/Money Transfer and SMS.
In order to make a donation via SMS, write “DEPREM” and send it to “4142” from any GSM operator.
For cash donations, EFT/Money Transfer can be made to the Turkish Lira, Dollar, Euro and Pound Sterling account numbers of the North Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent.
