Akdeniz Asparagus Festival realized.

Akdeniz village came alive this weekend with the Asparagus Festival.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, who attended the 9th Akdeniz Asparagus Festival, emphasized that the government will continue to implement new projects to increase the welfare of the people of the country.

The 9th Akdeniz Ayrelli Festival organized in cooperation with Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality and Akdeniz Village mukhtar was realized over the weekend and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel officially inaugurated the festival.

Artistic and cultural activities were also included in the festival where traditional flavors and handicraft products were sold.

Speaking at the opening of the festival Lapta, Alsancak and Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser stated that Akdeniz village is one of the most beautiful villages of the country and said that they organized the festival in order to promote and increase the consumption of the Asparagus product identified with the Akdeniz village.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel highlighted the significance of Akdeniz village in the history of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for existence.

Stating that Akdeniz village is one of the few villages in Cyprus with its nature, agricultural products and history, Üstel asked the youth of Akdeniz village to protect their land in the future as it has been protected in the past.

The Prime Minister discussed various infrastructure and social housing projects, including the distribution of rural land for young people.

He stressed the importance of the land being used by the youth themselves and not transferred to third parties.

Additionally, Üstel mentioned initiatives to encourage women’s participation in business and insurance premium support for TRNC citizens.

He also pointed out that the minimum wage in the country is €50 higher than that in South Cyprus, which has led to increased contributions to the economy.

“The government plans to implement further projects to enhance the welfare of the people” said Üstel.
