The Deputy Chairman and spokesperson for Türkiye’s Justice and Development (AK) Party Ömer Çelik expressed on Wednesday the party’s desire to celebrate the anniversary of the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation together in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Speaking in front of the AK Party Headquarters regarding the visit paid by Turkish President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Türkiye’s Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, Çelik highlighted the significance of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
Referring to the meeting between Erdoğan and Özel, Çelik stated, “Our President emphasized the need for a strong display of unity with Özel, CHP, and other parties during the 50th anniversary ceremonies of the Peace Operation. We hope to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation together in the TRNC.”
He recalled the approaching milestone, paying tribute to the late Bülent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan for their roles in the operation. “Our President highlighted the contributions of the late Ecevit and Erbakan once again. He expressed the need for a strong show of unity with Özel, CHP, and other parties during this significant anniversary. We hope to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation together in Northern Cyprus. Of course, this is subject to the schedules of the CHP officials.”
