The Undersecretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Serhan Aktunç has said that they were expecting positive results in the short and medium term concerning ticket prices.

Aktunç was evaluating the impact of the landing of larger planes at the new Ercan Airport on a programme on BRT.

Tourism Undersecretary Serhan Aktunç on Thursday said that the government’s efforts to lower airfares to and from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were continuing.

He emphasized the importance of tourists being able to come at more affordable prices, with greater comfort and lower fees, as an essential aspect of tourism.

Aktunç mentioned that since large-bodied aircraft have the capacity to carry more passengers in a single flight, this will automatically affect air ticket prices.

Also speaking on the programme, Orhan Tolun, the President of Cyprus Turkish Travel Agents Association (KITSAB), said that the landing of large-bodied aircraft at Ercan Airport was a significant development.

Tolun mentioned that there are still tasks that need to be done and that tourism promotion activities should also increase.
