The Cyprus issue was also brought up during the meeting.

The Ministry of National Defence stated that the Turkish Armed Forces will continue to unwaveringly protect the rights and interests of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the Aegean and Mediterranean.

Admiral Zeki Aktürk, the Press and Public Relations Advisor of the Turkish Ministry of National Defence conducted a press briefing held at the ministry on Thursday.

Aktürk shared information about operations carried out against the PKK terrorist organisation in Syria.

He mentioned that they closely monitor developments between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which posed a serious threat to the region’s and the world’s security.

Zeki Aktürk also emphasized during the briefing that the Turkish Armed Forces will continue to protect the rights and interests of Türkiye and the TRNC in the Aegean and Mediterranean without compromise.

He also stated that efforts will be made to maintain the recent positive atmosphere with Greece.

“Mutual efforts are ongoing to sustain and enhance the positive atmosphere that has developed with our neighbour Greece in recent times,” Aktürk said.

He expressed the hope that dialogue channels remain open, the positive agenda in bilateral relations continues, and the Aegean Sea becomes a sea of friendship.
