The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, who visited the Lefkoşa Atatürk Sports Hall on Tuesday was briefed by TRNC authorities on the ongoing humanitarian relief and operations being carried out in the country.
Supplies, donations and clothing coming in from all corners of the TRNC are being collected at the sports hall before being sent off to Türkiye.
Speaking during the visit, Feyzioğlu who was briefed by the authorities pointed out that the TRNC provided the largest amount of aid to Türkiye following to earthquake.
“We are strongly feeling that we are one nation” Ambassador Feyzioğlu said.
Noting that the Turkish Cypriot people had swiftly organized themselves since the day the earthquake struck, he reminded that 82 trucks of aid, which corresponds to 1600 tons of supplies, were sent to Türkiye.
“People even packed the stoves from their homes and loaded them onto trucks,” Feyzioğlu said.
“We felt strongly that we are one nation. We must constantly underline how valuable our partnership is. We are experiencing this pain together,” he added.
