The Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu and the Minister of Interior Ziya Öztürkler held official contacts in the Turkish capital Ankara.

While Amcaoğlu focused his attention on trade issues between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Öztürkler exchanged views on mutual extradition and the Isias Case.

The Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu gave interviews to 3 news channels at the TRNC Embassy in Ankara.

Referring to the statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Türkiye’s position on Cyprus is clear, Amcaoğlu said that this stance displayed by Türkiye is great news for Turkish Cypriots in terms of security and economic growth.

Amcaoğlu carried out his final visit in Ankara to the Ankara Chamber of Commerce where he met with the head of the Chamber Gürsel Baran and members of the board of directors.

During the meeting where current commercial issues were discussed, members from the Ankara Chamber of Commerce called for the direct purchasing of agricultural products to be made.

Discussions regarding purchasing power were also taken up.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Ankara, Interior Minister Ziya Öztürkler paid a visit to the Turkish Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.

During the meeting, a variety of issues including the extradition of criminals were taken up.

The Isias Case which was the most important topic on their agenda was also discussed.

On February 6, 2023, in the earthquake disaster that struck Türkiye, students from the Gazimağusa Turk Maarif College lost their lives in Adıyaman.

Minister Öztürkler conveyed to Turkish Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç the public sensitivity in regards to the Champion Angels.

The Turkish Justice Minister Tunç for his part said that they were fully aware of the sensitivities of the Turkish Cypriot people and added that he was personally following the trial process.

So far, 4 people have been arrested and 1 person has been released on bail.

A public case will be filed once the expert report is revealed.

Minister Öztürkler stated that they are very pleased to see that Motherland Türkiye is always on the side of the Turkish Cypriots as it is on every issue.

While in Ankara, Minister Öztürkler will meet with Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler and his counterpart Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya.
