The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı said that everything is in order at Ercan Airport and there are no more mishaps.

He made the statement while evaluating the latest developments regarding the new terminal area of Ercan Airport to the BRT newsroom.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı took part on a program on BRT and made statements regarding the problems that have been affecting Ercan Airport.

He said that all problems will be resolved within a month at the latest.

“Everything is in order at Ercan, there are no mishaps” said Arıklı and added that the fibre optic cable that had broken has been repaired and that the meteorology device has been activated.

He said that currently, flights can be made from the first runway or from the second runway in line with the request from the Civil Aviation Department.

Arıklı said that it was only natural that some problems may occur in the near future but that he was adamant that everything will be resolved within the month.

“Some people are trying to magnify the smallest problem at Ercan and trying to demoralize the society, we are used to them now, but we are ignoring them and doing our job” he said.

Referring to some of the technical deficiencies at Ercan Airport, Arıklı said that they are being eliminated one by one through the relevant company.

Also touching upon the electricity problems at the airport, Arıklı said that there are 8 huge medium voltage generators that need to be synchronized.

“This will be done within a period of 10 days. In line with the information given to us there will be no problems at Ercan airport within a month at the latest” said Arıklı.
