The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı announced that the Hatay Sea Buses Enterprises (HADO) will increase the number of voyages between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the number of sea buses making these trips in the near future.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı received the General Manager of HADO Bülent Ok and the HADO TRNC Representative, Rotam Maritime Director Hakan Uygun on Wednesday.
Noting that that they were working on strengthening the infrastructure of highways in the TRNC with the support of the Republic of Türkiye; Arıklı stressed that there will be an increase in air transportation once the new Ercan Airport is put into service.
Stating that all opportunities will be evaluated for the development of maritime transportation, he said they will increase the service quality by purchasing a new RoRo ship to the Cyprus Turkish Maritime Enterprises Ltd and as they had announced previously, they will purchase a sea bus and begin Girne-Taşucu voyages.
Expressing that HADO’s passenger transportation between Hatay-Girne and Hatay-Gazimağusa both supported the TRNC economy and contributed to the relations between the two countries, Arıklı said “we will benefit from HADO’s experience and knowledge while developing our maritime transportation.”
