Arpalık Martyrs commemorated

A remembrance ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Tekke Bahcesi Martyrs’ Cemetery for the five Turkish Cypriot martyrs who were killed in the Arpalık village by Greek Cypriots on February 6th 1964.

Memorial speeches were delivered at the Tekke Bahçesi Martyrs’ Cemetery by the Martyrs Families and Disabled War Veterans for the Arpalık Martyrs who lost their lives while waging an important struggle for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people 60 years ago.

President Ersin Tatar issued a commemorative message to mark the 60th anniversary of the Arpalık Martyrs.

In his message, Tatar said, “We will not forget our martyrs who resisted to exist on the island.”

Tatar stated that motherland Türkiye’s guarantees and sovereign equality are the red lines of the Turkish Cypriot people.
