Arrests in South Cyprus assessed in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Üstel

The arrests initiated in South Cyprus against those investing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were discussed at a comprehensive evaluation meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Youth, Environment and Culture Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Interior Dursun Oğuz, President of the Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association Cafer Gürcafer, investors, legal experts, and bureaucrats.

During the meeting, the legal and economic dimensions of the arrests were examined in detail.

The participants assessed the potential impacts of these actions by the Greek Cypriot administration on the Turkish Cypriot people.

The meeting also focused on the countermeasures that the TRNC could take against the steps taken by the Greek Cypriot side, which are not in line with goodwill.

Stating that such actions by the Greek Cypriot administration towards the TRNC were intended to victimize the Turkish Cypriot people, Prime Minister Üstel stressed that this issue was the main agenda of the government.

The Premier added that all necessary steps will be taken to protect the rights of the TRNC during this process.
