Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, issued a statement regarding the opening of the New Ercan Airport.

Stating that that the new Ercan Airport will welcome visitors to the country in a modern and comfortable manner, Ataoğlu said, “We were present at the inauguration ceremony of the airport, which was ianugrated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The new airport will make a significant contribution to the development of tourism and culture in our country. I am delighted that we will be able to host our people and guests from friendly countries in a more modern and comfortable way.”

Also evaluating the opening of the new terminal building and runway at Ercan Airport, The Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı stressed that their ultimate goal was to open Ercan Airport for international flights.

“This investment is a masterpiece that will be admired and envied. As you know, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been unjustly and inhumanely subjected to direct flight restrictions for years. Thanks to this investment, the TRNC has gained a respectable position in civil aviation” Arıklı said.
