The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is set to celebrate August 1st Communal Resistance Day with various ceremonies and events.
In observance of the day, all martyrs’ cemeteries across the country will be open for public visitation.
The 48th anniversary of the Security Forces Command, the 66th anniversary of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT), and the 453rd anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus by the Ottomans will be celebrated with ceremonies and events.
According to the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces, the day will begin at 6:00 AM on Thursday, August 1, with a 16-kilometer resistance run starting from the headquarters of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces in Boğazköy and ending in front of the Cyprus TMT Fighters Association.
Awards will be presented to the top athletes at the TMT Fighters Association at 10:15 AM.
Wreath-laying ceremonies will be held at the Atatürk monument in Lefkoşa and all district centres at 9:30 AM, and at the Republic Cumhuriyet Park Monument at 12:00 PM.
In the evening, at 8:00 PM, a reception will be held in the garden of the Headquarters of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces to mark the anniversary.
Additionally, all martyrs’ cemeteries in the TRNC will be open to the public for visits throughout the day.
