Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Vedat Bilgin, who is holding contacts in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), visited the Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy on Monday.
Speaking during the visit, Minister Taçoy expressed his happiness to see Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Bilgin.
Pointing out that it was one of his greatest wishes to see the further development of relations with motherland Türkiye and carry out more joint protocols between the two countries, Taçoy stressed that steps will be taken with Turkish Minister Bilgin in that direction.
“It is a matter of great honour and assurance for us that you are with us,” Taçoy added.
Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security Vedat Bilgin for his part said that he was pleased to be in the TRNC and added “we feel at home, in our own homeland here. Thank you very much for your invitation.”
Pointing out that there were many issues that needed to be addressed jointly concerning working life and social security, Bilgin stated that they will be putting the final touches on previously agreed protocols today.
Noting that there was a protocol suspended due to the pandemic, he said that they will have the opportunity to complete it today adding that they will do whatever necessary for its implementation.
Stating that protocols will also be signed on allowing Turkish citizens residing in the TRNC to benefit from Türkiye’s health and social security system, Bilgin drew attention to the unique bond that existed between the two countries.
Expressing the hope that cooperation between Türkiye and the TRNC will develop further, the Turkish Minister stressed that the work being carried out for the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people will be completed.
Following the ministers’ meeting, the first meeting of the Türkiye-TRNC Joint Permanent Commission on Labour and Social Security started.
